Sloppy Joes and a Birthday

You may be wondering what sloppy joes have to do with a birthday! Well, it has been so long since I have posted that I decided to combine two posts together!

First,  Elijah turned 4 on January 25! We had his party that Saturday and it sure was fun.  This was the first year that his "classmates" were invited to his party! Most of his class came and they were too cute! Because Elijah IS Peter Parker/Spiderman that was our theme! (Side story: the week of E's birthday, they sang to him during chapel time at school.  He stood up during the song, held his hand up and stopped them.  He declared, I am NOT Elijah, I am AM Peter Parker! Oh that kid. . . .) Here are some pics of the fun:

Spiderman came to the party!! (Thanks Matt!!!)

Spiderman and Little Spidies (some of them. . .one little girl was TERRIFIED of him! haha)

On to the sloppy joes. . . .

Going back to WT, I was, I think, the ONE person that didn't dread going to the Wesley, BSM, etc for free lunch. I LOVED it because more often then not they served my FAVORITE. . . SLOPPY JOES! From as far back as I can remember, I have LOVED sloppy joes! Well, I married about the least picky eater in the world but guess what is the ONE thing he doesn't really care for. . .you guessed it. . . sloppy joes!!! My Mom shares the love with me so EVERY time we go to Guymon she treats me with them! Other than that, I don't get them very often! But tonight. . . .oh what a night! I came home from school to find Ricky standing at the stove cooking none other than SLOPPY JOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a sweet, sweet man!!! This of course was Kyle's first go round with them so pictures were a must!

Kyle didn't really know what to think at first but ended up eating his fair share!

Kyle is ONE!!!

Kyle, our sweet little Kyle, turned one last Friday! It was such a fun day! I got to take the day off and just stay home with him! He is such a doll and so fun to be around! We celebrated his actual birthday together as a family complete with cupcakes. His party was Saturday! We had a great day!!!

KYLE IS ONE!!!

The cupcake I made him. . .he actually ate the ENTIRE thing!!!

His personal cake. . .he never made it past the icing but he sure did have fun with it!

Kyle and his friend, Benjamin Simmons(who is only 5 months old!!!! You can't tell but he is bigger than Kyle! We keep warning him not to try to make Ben mad! haha )

This isn't very good of either of them but it was the best we got. . .this is Kyle and his friend, Chava Nuckols

Elijah's new "two beds"

Elijah is a tall kid. . .always has been! He was born at 21 and 3/4 inches! He has always been at least in the 90th percentile in his height. Well, he was still sleeping in his cute, tiny, adorable little toddler bed(part of me doesn't want to let go of that little toddler boy)! Now, I don't want you to think I was torturing my child. . .he still fit. . .it was just a much snugger fit than I was comfortable with. So, my amazing parents told us they would buy Elijah a bed for Christmas/Birthday (since beds are expensive and the two are so close together). The day we mentioned this to Elijah he declared that he wanted "two beds". I'm not exactly sure where he learned of these "two beds" or bunk beds but he had his heart and mind set on them. We found the perfect beds for him at Kidspace (I had never really seriously looked there but they have some great stuff!)! We picked the beds up last Friday. Since Elijah was at a friends and then on to the movies we were hurriedly trying to "surprise" him by having the beds all together and made when he got home. Lets just say that the beds took a tad bit longer than we anticipated(plus we had a few errors in the assembly. . .but they are all fixed now)! Elijah, however, was delighted when he got home to see some of the process. He loves his new "two beds" and can't wait for the day that his Daddy and Mommy are brave enough to let him sleep on the top!!

Can you tell his excitement?

One last parting shot of my little guy! He will be four on the 25th!!! AAAHHH. . .where has the time gone??

My parents gave Ricky and I money for Christmas.  We invested that money in a good camera! This last picture is one of my favorites of Elijah so far! :) We are still learning but having a blast playing with our new toy! :)

My Adventurous One. . .

This is my sweet, sweet, little Kyle(lovingly referred to as "Baby Kyle" to most)! He is absolutely an amazing baby! He is so sweet and smiles ALL the time! He is so fun! I can't imagine a day without seeing his beautiful smile and hearing his sweet little giggle! Therefore, I thought I would share with you what makes him smile most. . .

Take note of who is upside down. . .it's not Elijah(he is very timid)!

And of course the one that makes me cringe. . .
I have said from the beginning that Kyle would be the one that will ride roller coasters with me!

My Out of the Box Thinker

Elijah is my oldest(almost 4) and definitely marches to the beat of his own drum! He has never done things the way other kids his age do! Everyday when Ricky or I go pick him up from school, we know we will hear a story of some sort! Some are more funny than others but this one I thought was worth sharing!

Elijah's teachers were going around asking the kids what they wished for most! Of course most of the kids gave answer of a certain toy, puppy, and even a few said snow.  Not my Elijah. . .when they got to him he thought and thought! And, when he finally decided he declared to never take a bath again!!!   The funny thing about this is that this kid has NEVER minded taking a bath! We never knew a thing about this hatred with bathes until last Tuesday! And of course, now that he has declared it to his "Miss Heather" he thinks it is true! So, every time we say bath time, he proudly tells us that he wishes to never take a bath to Miss Heather.  Of course he still takes a bath and oddly enough still thoroughly enjoys them.

And I have to add. . .BOOMER SOONER!!!

Elijah's Special Phone Call

Monday was a special night for Elijah! After struggling and struggling and struggling with the potty(not going to get really graphic here but let's just say he has peepeed in the potty for nearly a year!!!), he FINALLY had a triumphant breakthrough Monday night! And, to make it an even greater night Spiderman (aka Brooks Tabor) called him to tell him how proud of him he is!!! I, of course, had to snap a quick picture of the special conversation.

I couldn't figure out how to get the underlining off. . .sorry!

Fall Fun

For the longest time, I dreaded the coming of Fall.  I was a summer swimmer and always knew that summer was gone for good for the current year when the leaves and temperature started falling! Now that I am older, I enjoy fall.  I look forward to the change and the fun things that we get to do with the boys.  Up until this year, Elijah was still really too young to understand the fun of dressing up, carving pumpkins, playing in piles of leaves, footie pajamas(see previous post), etc.  This year has been so much fun as he has taken so much delight in each activity!

I thought I would post some pictures of some of the "fall" outings we have been on! Please bare with me, our camera is old and outdated! I hope you enjoy the images even if they aren't great quality!

WT Football Game(If you know me you know I LOVE football! I was so sad that the ONE game we go to, they lose! SO sad!!!)

I don't know if we will ever get one where we are all looking where we are supposed. . .

"Fall" Carnival at Elijah's School

Here are the boys ready to go have some fun. . .

Silly Elijah enjoying the maze!
Sweet Kyle along for the ride. . .as always! :)

Pumpkin Patch

A pumpkin patch went to Elijah's school several weeks ago.  He was allowed to pick out a "big" pumpkin.  He was ecstatic  about this.  We deicded this would be the year to go ourselves and let him pick out a really large pumpkin to carve a Jack'O'Lantern.  Needless to say it was an adventure as neither Ricky nor I had previous experience with carving! Elijah had fun none-the-less and ended up convincing us to carve his "big" pumpkin he got from school as well!

My Sweet Boys. . .Elijah refused to sit on the ground next to Kyle.  He is such a "rule" follower.  He saw that he was supposed to sit on the step and refused to do anything but that!

The beginning of the "Happy" Jack'O'Lantern. . .if you know Elijah very well then you know this is a HUGE thing for him to have his hand in the slimy pumpkin!

Almost there. . . notice the plastic green knife. . .he had to help! :)

The finished products! :)

Trick or Treating

Last but not least is trick or treating! Elijah actually remembered doing this last year and was very excited.  We live on a cull-de-sac with exactly 21 houses(including ours).  So, we only spent about an hour out and about but he thought it was great! Again, our sweet Kyle was along for the ride! :)

Sorry this post was so long. . .I don't seem to have time to periodically post so mine end up being a mile long!
